Al-Khair Foundation based in Croydon responds to the Moroccan Earthquake disaster and extends Aid to the affected communities.

In response to the devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Morocco on Sept. 8, Croydon based Al-Khair Foundation has launched a comprehensive disaster relief effort to help all those affected.

As of September 13th, more than 2,900 people have been killed by the earthquake and more than 300,000 have been affected. Local experts have said the death toll will rise as thousands of people have been unaccounted for.

The Morocco earthquake which hit at 11 pm local time has been described as the deadliest earthquake in 60 years. While people slept, buildings collapsed and as a result of the magnitude of the earthquake villages near the epicentre have been nearly destroyed which includes Tafeghaghte, which is 37 miles from Marrakesh.

Without relief efforts from organizations such as the Al-Khair Foundation, tens of thousands of more people will die.

Imam Qasim, Chairman of Al-Khair Foundation has said thousands of people have seen their homes destroyed. As a result of the disruption communities are without shelter.

“It is important that people from around the world pull together to reduce the number of lives lost. Our Rapid Response Teams are on the ground and have identified an urgent need shelters, food and water.”

As a result of the disaster in Morocco, the Al-Khair Foundation has swiftly mobilized its Rapid Response Team to the affected areas. There are already teams on the ground from the foundation in several affected areas, including in the High Atlas mountain range, about 72 kilometres (44.7 miles) southwest of Marrakech, a city of about 840,000 people.

These dedicated individuals are working tirelessly on the ground, supporting emergency operations and providing much-needed support to those affected. However, due to the devasting damage, there are access routes in several areas that are causing problems for the Emergency teams. It is making it difficult to reach some of the most affected regions.

Imam Qasim said: “We are working closely with local agencies to overcome these challenges and deliver aid to those that need it. The primary goal of the Al-Khair Foundation’s appeal is to provide immediate relief to the affected communities”.

“We aim to ensure that all those impacted by this disaster have access to clean water, food, shelter, and medical care. Additionally, we are committed to helping families reunite and rebuild their lives in the aftermath of this tragedy.”

The Spokesman continued to discuss how important the relief efforts were and how they are helping those who have been affected.

“Since our response efforts began, our teams will be distributing food, sheltering families, and offering assistance to thousands of individuals. These achievements reflect our dedication to alleviating the suffering of the earthquake affected population and helping them on their journey to recovery.”

Al-Khair Foundation is fully committed to supporting the people of Morocco during this challenging time. Their teams on the ground, along with the generosity of their donors, are making a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by the earthquake. We will continue to work tirelessly to provide aid, support, and hope, to the people of Morocco who at the moment are finding it hard to look to the future.

The Croydon-based foundation is asking for people to visit their website https://alkhair.org/ and donate what they can afford to help those who are in need. They are also asking for people to say a prayer for those struggling in the Morocco earthquake disaster.
